The challenge
Our client had an existing softwood deck that had rotted over time due to weather exposure and poor drainage. They were looking for something that would last longer, add visual appeal, and require minimal upkeep – all while blending naturally into their garden.
Our outdoor living solution
We recommended a complete rebuild using burnt cedar millboard decking, a high-quality composite material that offers both durability and timeless design.
The works included:
Removal of the existing softwood decking
Timber sub-deck installation, sealed with bitumen paint to protect against moisture
40 pad foundations poured and set for solid support
Oak caps added and screwed into each concrete pad for structural integrity
Geotext anti-weed fabric laid across the ground
Final installation of Millboard decking in a burnt cedar finish
